Bean Cake

Description

Residue of beans after hydraulic pressing for oil. Used as a cattle food. May be shipped in bulk or in bags.

Has a strong tendency to heating in stowage and a slight latent tendency to spontaneous combustion. Should be stowed away from engine and stokehold bulkheads. Quickly turns mouldy from damp dunnage, holds, ceilings, etc. Gives taint and is easily tainted by other cargoes.

Reference is made to the relevant IMO publications of hazardous cargo.
