Vermiculite (in bulk)

Description

A mineral of the mica group, largely mined in Russia, South Africa, Brazil and China. It has a very large range of applications in industry. It has a light-grey colour and is known to be light weight, non-combustible, compressible and highly absorbent

Used in insulation, fire proofing and refractories. Recommended to stow the vermiculite by itself and beware of contaminating other cargo which could cause heavy claims.

Reference is made to the relevant IMO publications of hazardous cargo.
